Policies & Procedures

UMBC is obligated to follow the University of Maryland Board of Regent policies and be functionally compatible with all policies and procedures required of Maryland state agencies. The Office of Information Technology is the department at UMBC assigned with maintaining IT policy compliance. To do this, OIT works closely with the UMBC Faculty Senate Computer Policy Committee and the Provost’s IT Steering Committee on policy and procedure development and review. Once policies have been reviewed by these groups they follow the standard process for policy approval on campus.

Below are a list of key policies and procedures that govern IT services at UMBC.
