Description

Flipped learning is a model of teaching in which the more passive learning activities such as watching lectures, happen outside of the classroom, saving more in-person class time for interactive activities. Flipping the classroom is currently one of the most popular trends in education at all levels! In this workshop, you will explore different flipped design models and the educational benefits of the flipped design. You will gain a deeper understanding of how to implement this strategy into your own teaching.

Workshop Objectives
  • Discuss the benefits and challenges of flipped design models
  • Design a flipped learning plan appropriate for your course
Designing a Flipped Classroom is an online, week-long workshop from the Online Learning Consortium through a partnership with the University System of Maryland. The workshop will begin on Monday, December 5, 2016 and end on the following Sunday, December 11, 2016, requiring approximately 6-8 hours of work, including reading research-based articles, viewing presentations, engaging in online discussion forums, and submitting assignments.

To sign up for an OLC workshop, please open an RT ticket with the name of the workshop and preferred date(s). Please submit your request at least seven days prior to the start of the workshop to allow time for OLC processing. Instructional Technology staff will assist with your registration, answer any questions you may have about the experience, etc. You will receive a confirmation email from OLC after we register you and an additional email about 24 hours before the workshop begins with login information.
