Shared Infrastructure Governance

While DoIT administers and maintains the campus Research Computing and Data Infrastructure, DoIT is advised by the Research Computing Shared Infrastructure Governance Steering Committee (RC-SIG). The RC-SIG was formed following the 2023 RCTF Report by campus researchers to the university administration. Item 1 of the response by VP of DoIT & CIO Jack Suess along with VP of ORCA Dr. Karl Steiner highlighted the need for this group and laid-out its general structure. The structure and operation of the RC-SIG is outlined in the RC-SIG Governance document. The RC-SIG meets monthly to deliberate on policies and issues facing campus researchers and works to recommend best practices for the administration and growth of Research Computing and Data Infrastructure.

 Membership

The RC-SIG is composed of each of the college deans (or their delegates), the chairs of the RC-SIG Subcommittees, and the Vice President for Research & Creative Achievement and the Vice President of Information Technology both as ex-officio members.
