SIG User-Experience meetings to resume
As a continued part of the Shared Infrastructure Governance which advises campus endeavors around research computing, we are pleased to continue the User Experience Committee dedicated to addressing training, support, and accessibility of research computing infrastructure at UMBC.
Beyond discussion of structured user support and experience questions, the SIG User Experience Committee will continue to provide an open forum for users to share insights, identify areas for improvement, and help guide enhancements that best support the needs of the computational research community.
Participation
All current and prospective users of research computing infrastructure at UMBC are invited to participate. This infrastructure includes the chip cluster, cloud platforms, generative AI, virtual and physical machine hosting, and storage.
Activities

Regular meetings (every 2nd monday of the month, except for October which will be held on the 14th.)

Discussion of user needs, challenges, and potential improvements

Communication of user perspectives to system administrators and other governance groups
How to Get Involved
Those interested in joining the User Experience Committee should attend the inaugural Fall 2026 meeting on September 14th, 2026 from 1300ET to 1400ET in ENG 125a or via the Webex meeting link (https://umbc.webex.com/wbxmjs/joinservice/sites/umbc/meeting/download/aaac20dd884e46e08182f06f9abb1bf4?MTID=m9b4c54ffabb81fec587964815a75e721).
