What is REX Analytics?
REX is the reporting and decision support environment for UMBC’s data warehouse. The UMBC data warehouse integrates data from systems throughout UMBC. REX allows authorized faculty, staff, and institutional researchers to report and analyze UMBC data. REX provides a few ways for reporting data from the data warehouse.

Institutional Research, Analysis, & Decision Support
Institutional Research, Analysis & Decision Support (IRADS) provides ongoing support for UMBC’s campus planning and decision-making. Through the integration and analysis of campus data we facilitate decision-making in the areas of budget, resource allocation, enrollment management/projections, campus performance, and the setting of campus goals and objectives.
IRADS functions as the primary source for official campus statistics, complying with federal, State and University System of Maryland reporting requirements. As needed, we conduct surveys (students, alumni, faculty/staff, employers) and special research studies to assist in policy decision-making. We also respond to requests for information about UMBC from higher education associations, accreditation teams, admissions guidebook publishers, other colleges and universities, students, etc.
UMBC complies with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA). In general, FERPA serves to protect the privacy of student education records. Specifically, FERPA limits the release of any information from a student’s education record without prior written consent from the student. FERPA allows for the disclosure of those records, without consent, to school officials with legitimate educational interests. More information about FERPA is available here.
