Every semester, Instructional Technology presents its Feature a Teacher and Tool series, showcasing a UMBC instructor’s use of technology for teaching and discussing how the technology can support the teaching and learning experience with students.

About this Event

Are you interested in learning about a better way to teach and engage your students asynchronously online? Do your students create media projects? Do your students share peer feedback or critique peer work?

Kristen Anchor, Lecturer, Media and Communication Studies, uses VoiceThread Assignments in her Media and Communication Studies (MCS) courses. She devised several innovative approaches to managing and facilitating media project assignments, peer learning, and peer critique. In our October feature, Kristen Anchor will discuss her experience using VoiceThread Assignments, along with tips, tricks, and thoughts for faculty considering adopting VoiceThread Assignments for their instruction moving forward. 

VoiceThread is a learning tool for enhancing student engagement and online presence. With VoiceThread, instructors and students can create, share, and comment on images, Microsoft PowerPoint presentations, videos, audio files, documents, and PDFs, using microphone, webcam, text, phone, and audio-file upload. 

Come learn how to use this platform for instruction! After the session (12:00-1:00pm), stay for a deep dive from 1:00-1:30pm.
