Objectives:

  • Identify accessibility needs within your course materials using Ally in Blackboard.
  • Create and remediate accessible course content, documents, and presentations.
  • Develop effective image descriptions for instructional materials.
  • Produce accessible videos with captions and transcripts.
  • Construct an actionable plan for implementing accessibility improvements in your courses.

This immersive VIRTUAL workshop will equip you with the knowledge and skills needed to create accessible digital course materials.

About the Winter Camp

  • The schedule begins at 9:30 AM and ends at 3:30 PM. Breaks are scheduled.
  • This workshop is synchronous via Google Meet with supplemental materials provided through Blackboard. Space is limited for personalized support and hands-on opportunities to practice via breakout rooms.
  • Please have access to a recent Blackboard course with appropriate content to explore digital accessibility (images, documents, video).
This event will be facilitated by staff from Instructional Technology.

Please note: UMBC is committed to creating an accessible and inclusive environment for all faculty, staff, students, and visitors. If you would like to request accommodations (e.g., ASL interpreters, captioning, wheelchair access, etc.) for this event, please notify us at least two weeks prior to the event. Requests received after that time cannot be guaranteed, but we will do our best to make arrangements for program access.
