Description

Whether you are a faculty member designing a syllabus, a staff member drafting an announcement, or a student preparing a presentation, this workshop will provide you with the tools to ensure your content is usable by everyone.

This session will move beyond theory into hands-on practice. After a brief overview of accessibility tools and best practices in Microsoft Word, Google Workspace, and Blackboard Ultra, the floor is yours.

The Practice Challenge

We encourage all registrants to bring one specific piece of content (a draft document, a slide deck, or a syllabus) that you'd like to practice making accessible during this session with facilitator support.

Topics

  • Plain Language: Tips for clear, impactful writing.
  • Structure: Mastering titles, subtitles, and logical headings.
  • Visuals: Adding descriptive Alt Text and ensuring proper contrast.
  • Data: Building tables that screen readers can navigate.
  • The PDF Question: When to use them and when to avoid them?
