DoIT to power down the retired Rolm phone system on Monday June 9th
DoIT will power down the old Rolm based phone system
On Monday, June 9th, DoIT will be permanently shutting down the retired Rolm based phone system. Now that the campus has been migrated to the Cisco VoIP phone system, no impact to services or phone system users is expected.
Years ago, DoIT began a campus wide project to modernize UMBC’s phone system, aiming to bring new features, flexibility, and stability to our calling environment. We are excited to announce that this last year DoIT completed the project by finishing the migration of all campus services from legacy to modern phone system. Although that work was completed months ago, in an abundance of caution DoIT elected to wait until the Summer before permanently powering down these old systems.
Although we expect that this will have no impact on campus phone services, please don’t hesitate to contact the Technology Support Center if you experience any phone service disruptions.
