Storage Failure Affects Blackboard
Today from approximately noon to 2pm the Blackboard server was unavailable. This was due a controller on a storage array going bad. Unfortunately, the server attached to this storage was Blackboard. We have had some issues with this storage array for the past few weeks. The vendor (Sun) has been actively working with us to analyze logs to identify the root cause of our problems. On Saturday we implemented a temporary fix that appears to have fixed one issue. However, today we had an unrelated hardware failure. We are awaiting word back from Sun but we expect to have them install a new controller sometime this evening. Thank you for your patience.
