In this session, Dr. Tom Penniston (DoIT) will discuss his recently presented paper on UMBC’s efforts to leverage student data to predict risk and target interventions to support academic success. We'll also discuss the ethical challenges in balancing these predictive models with university accountability metrics, and explore strategies for gathering more meaningful data to advance student-centered learning environments.
