Description

UMBC's Instructional Technology staff interviews colleagues to talk about all things instructional technology and Going Online. Our guests bring their insight and experiences to the table, followed by a Q&A session from our audience.

Join us March 26th for a deep dive with Derek Bruff, director of the Vanderbilt University Center for Teaching and a principal senior lecturer in the Vanderbilt Department of Mathematics, about research-based principles for matching technology to pedagogy.

We interviewed Derek following the March 9 book discussion of his 2019 book, Intentional Tech: Principles to Guide the Use of Educational Technology in College Teaching. Arguing that teaching and learning goals should drive instructors’ technology use, not the other way around, Intentional Tech explores seven research-based principles for matching technology to pedagogy.

Derek is also the author of Teaching with Classroom Response Systems: Creating Active Learning Environments (Jossey-Bass, 2009). His scholarly interests include educational technology and faculty development, and he writes about these and other topics on his blog, Agile Learning.

We hope you will join us for a live replay of our interview with Derek.  Following our interview, session attendees are encouraged to join us for a roundtable discussion about choosing the right tool for one’s online teaching practice.

This webinar will take place in a Blackboard Collaborate virtual conference room. Use the link below to enter the webinar up to 15 minutes before the start time: http://tiny.cc/SP2021
