Description

Gamification provides creative opportunities for instructors to design classroom environments that enhance student involvement, learning, motivation, and recognition. New to Blackboard, the Badgr integration can be used in both the Original and Ultra course view as a way for instructors to gamify their course, award badges, and display a leader board to engage students in friendly competition. This session will review how to set up the integration in your Blackboard course and review potential use-cases to award various achievements in your course.

During this session, we will:
  • Create a Badgr account via UMBC Google sign-in
  • Add an award in a Blackboard course that is tied to a learning assessment
  • Define objectives and criteria for badges in a course
  • Discuss how to implement the leader board to encourage student engagement
  • Determine use-cases for badging
