Apply for 2024 Accessibility Inclusion Fellowship

The Accessibility Inclusion Fellowship is a one-year fellowship awarded by the National Federation of the Blind to three Maryland professors to assist them integrate accessibility into their curriculum and incorporate non-visual teaching methods in at least one course. 

In addition to providing a $2,000 financial award to each professor, the NFB works individually with the professors/instructors to brainstorm solutions to their accessibility challenges, help them develop and implement an accessibility action plan, and provide meaningful educational resources and tools.

The National Federation of the Blind administers the Accessibility Inclusion Fellowship program under a non-visual accessibility initiative grant from the State of Maryland. Your existing course does not need to have an accessibility component. If chosen, the NFB will work with you through their Center of Excellence in Non-visual Access to enhance your course curriculum to include accessibility concepts by providing consultation and assistance with course instruction.

All institutional grants and faculty grants awarded to UMBC must be routed to the Office of Sponsored Programs prior to submission. Contact your unit's business manager or proposal development staff to discuss your application.
