Given higher-education's so-called "Demographic Cliff" of fewer traditional 18-22 year-old students going to college as first-year, first-time students, what do we know – and can predict – about UMBC’s transfer student population? Over the past five years, transfers typically make up about 38% and 45% of UMBC's incoming and graduating undergraduate students, respectively. More importantly, if we know when they might struggle in their progress toward a degree, is it possible to use data to shine light on how and why? In this session Bob Carpenter and Len Mancini will share recent findings in predicting transfer student success, and discuss possible implications.

This meeting is part of the UMBC Learning Analytics and Data Science "Community of Practice."
