Explore conversion strategies, pedagogy, best practices

Description

One in four students take some of their courses online, and two-thirds do so at a public institution (Allen, Seaman, Pouline, & Straut, 2016). In early November, UMBC celebrates National Distance Learning Week (NDLW) with a series of lunchtime conversations.

Marie Kondo's tidying up method applies to more than just our homes -- we can apply it to our course designs as well. How can you make Blackboard Ultra work effectively for you and your students? Find out how UMBC’s learning management system has evolved and what's changed, discuss the underlying pedagogy and how to use it to improve student learning, review best practices for Ultra's various features, and evaluate your course's readiness to upgrade to the Ultra Experience.

Join our faculty, instructional technology staff, and instructional designers to learn about sparking joy in your Blackboard courses with Ultra. Attendees will receive information about training opportunities and how to access an Ultra Experience sandbox. Discuss the differences between course conversion and course redesign, and learn about other features exclusive to the Ultra Experience.

Lunch will be provided to all registered participants. Click “I Can Attend” below to reserve your seat for this session. Please email mariannhawken at umbc dot edu with any dietary restrictions. The deadline to register for this event is NOON on Friday, November 1st.
