UMBC’s Division of Information Technology (DoIT), Legal, and Procurement offices have partnered to form a new group known as the Cloud Services/Software Review Group. The review process evaluates campus software purchases for compliance with Security, Technical, Procurement, and Legal policies. Their primary mission is to provide review and guidance for purchases and renewals pertaining to cloud services and software.
In addition to the review process this group also inventories the software. The benefits of performing this inventory activity include timely renewal notifications, efficiencies in purchasing to avoid many departments buying the same solution and not leveraging volume discounting, reporting, etc.
